What You’ll Do
The Garden Inspiration and Design Center Manager is the champion of the retail side of our business, where experiences are specific to the client and their home. As the lead in this department, you will be primarily responsible for developing, executing, maintaining, and evaluating this vision for the retail market segment. To succeed, you will have a perspective on the client needs, innovation in the industry, and will build relationships to achieve consistent and recurring client satisfaction. You will work closely with the Nursery Manager and Nursery Team and will share responsibility of inventory of nursery products and supplies in support of all company departments.
- Business Planning
- Lead the development and execution of a strategic vision and business plan for the retail market segment focused on DYI packages, design services, plants, and other innovative concepts and products.
- Marketing
- Design and implement virtual and physical displays to support design center sales.
- Develop informational and promotional campaigns for company website and email marketing.
- Work with the Social Media Manager/Receptionist to tell our story on social media platforms.
- Manage the creation and development of client-focused and community events.
- Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate plant and supply inventory records.
- Work with the team to successfully implement Quickbooks Enterprise POS and inventory management system.
- Manage and assist with inventory handling, tagging, pruning, etc.
- Production Support
- Work with the Nursery Manager to support landscape construction crews with inventory planning and logistics.
- Purchasing
- Work with the Nursery Manager to coordinate purchases of plants and supplies.
- Maintain relationships with growers, suppliers, and brokers, and others involved in the supply chain.
- Work with the Nursery Manager to place orders and ensure timely delivery of materials.

What You’ll Do
As Landscape Designer and Project Manager you will transform outdoor sites into beautiful and functional spaces. As a lead team member, you will be primarily responsible for creating original design proposals and overseeing the project installation and budget. To succeed, you will have a perspective on the client needs, innovation in the industry, and will build relationships to achieve consistent and recurring client satisfaction. You will work closely with the Nursery Manager to support efficient plant and supply inventory planning and logistics.
- Landscape Design and Client Service
- Meet with clients to gain an understanding of their needs, budget, preferences, lifestyle desires, and concerns.
- Analyze and evaluate existing yard and landscape natural and manmade elements including soil, slope, drainage, natural vegetation, lighting, and other construction projects.
- Prepare designs and estimates utilizing creative and technical elements while incorporating client desires, needs, and budget.
- Complete final rendering of the project and prepare a contract with detailed specifications of plant materials, hardscape, and all costs specific to the installation.
- Project Management
- Lead the installation of the landscape project, both on the job site and in the office, work collaboratively with the client, landscape foreman and crew, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Manage the project budget, creating change-orders when necessary. Work with the office staff to generate timely and accurate billing.
- Ensure timely project completion and client satisfaction.
- Equip clients with knowledge to maintain and sustain their landscape project for the future.
- Production Support
- Work collaboratively with the Design and Project Management team to create optimal scheduling of all jobs and construction crews.
- Work with the Nursery Manager to support landscape construction crews with inventory planning and logistics.

- Landscape bed preparation, weeding, edging, mulching, raking, digging, tilling, and cleaning up debris and material at the job site and off trucks at the end of the day
- Assist in installing project materials such as brick, flagstone, wood, timbers, soil, low-voltage lighting, water features, edging, and lawns
- Safely operate hand and power tools on the job and return them to the proper storage place
- Report any defective or broken tools or equipment to the foreman
- Adhere to safety standards for self and work crew

- Provide instruction, oversite, and assistance to the landscape crew for the overall job requirements, proper planting and plant care techniques, and hardgoods installation
- Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment including skid steers, excavators, and dump trucks
- Ensure jobsite is cleaned up and all material and debris are removed from the jobsite and surrounding area
- Ensure all trucks, equipment, and tools are returned clean and in the proper place
- Report any defective or broken tools, equipment, or vehicles to the Nursery Manager or Project Manager
- Complete time and materials sheets and other job-related paperwork daily

Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the maintenance and orderly and appealing appearance of the retail yard
- Oversee the maintenance and production of plants and nursery stock to industry standards
- Welcome retail clients and assist them in selection and understanding of purchases
- Work with the nursery manager to place orders and ensure timely delivery of materials
- Maintain relationships with growers, suppliers, brokers, and others involved in the supply chain
- Support nursery crews with inventory and logistics
- Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to implement physical and virtual displays to support plant sales
- Adhere to safety standards for self and work crew
- Adhere to company dress and uniform standards
- Make appropriate decisions to ensure customer confidence and loyalty
- Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment including skid steers, excavators, and dump trucks

Compensation:
- Starting Pay - $16 per hour without license, $17 per hour with license
- For unlicensed applicants, Bay Landscaping will pay the $75 fee for up to two testing sessions. If the applicant passes the test within the two sessions, they will receive a $300 one-time award.

- Assist Nursery Crew with shop, office, and property clean up and maintenance
- Complete required paperwork and production forms
- Safely operate hand and power tools on the job and return them to the proper storage place
- Report any defective or broken tools or equipment to the Plant & Turf Health Care lead
- Adhere to safety standards for self and work crew
- Adhere to company dress and uniform standards
